Hydroponic Designs

In today’s health-conscious world, people are becoming more aware of exactly what they are eating. Organic foods have become increasingly important as people recognize the dangers of pesticides and genetically engineered produce. Thanks to the design, innovation, and creative minds, , hydroponic designs are allowing people to grow food right in their own homes, no matter if they live in a house or in these apartments near Garland, and how many seasons they have. With these innovative hydroponic designs, you too can have fresh vegetables from your own kitchen every day.

Compact Hydroponic Designs

There are lots of DIY hydroponic designs out there. Some are not overly pretty nor very sophisticated, but they do the trick. Here is one DIY option we wanted to share. It’s about as simple as it can get: the Zig Zag Hydroponic Design that uses PVC piping and a basic plastic container.

We also found a small hydroponic design called the O-Garden. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, it also uses a very interesting design. Plants are grown in a slowly revolving wheel. Roots grow in a nutrient-rich coconut matting. The lamp placed in the centre of the wheel brings the vegetables all the light they need. It turns on and off automatically in order to respect the plants’ cycles. It is also very compact, making it ideal for small spaces.

One of our favourites is, of course, the Nutri-Tower. Developed by Spark Innovations, the tower is a self-contained, indoor, hydroponic plant growing system. It is not intended for small herbs or flowers; it is primarily for growing vegetables. It is approximately 7’ 6” tall and can accommodate 20 to 24 large plants at one time. One of these hydroponic designs could keep a small, apartment-dwelling family in fresh vegetables year-round. Today they are selling not only for the home, but also for restaurants and community centres.
