Virtual Presence Robot (VPR) and Charging Station
The project requirements were to take a mechanical functioning prototype of a Virtual Presence Robot (VPR) and design a chassis housing and charging station for the unit.
The chassis includes a rigid frame that supports the mechanical components and acts as the structural spine of the product. The chassis also houses features that allow the external housing to be mounted to it and assembled in a large scale production setting.
The external housing was designed by our in-house industrial design team and fully engineered for production that reflects the function of this product. The product was designed to be manufactured by a variety of production methods including; sheet metal forming, vacuum forming, CNC machining and injection molding, and assembled with off the shelf mechanical components and hardware.
