Adidas wrestling earguard II design was created with perceived venting features. The sweped curves running across the plastic face, evoke a sense of movement and flow. Not unlike the philosohy of wresting.
Triangle Shape Concepts
The initial phases of this project revolved around creating side view illustrations of the earguard to capture the clients desired look. A traingle shape was chosen for the main footprint of the ear guard resembling the trangular design of the Adidas logo.
3D CAD Face Plate
The project moved into 3D CAD design, prototyping and testing, using 3D printing methods and sewing. Intended for polycarbonate plastic injection molding, the main faceplate of the earguard was created in Solidworks. The edges of the faceplate are strategically inset inside the foam to prevent injury to oppentents. Aside from a few gaps in the foam to allow air and sound to enter the ear protecing chamber
