Can Opening Guitar Pick
The Spark team was approached by a marketing firm on behalf of a local micro brewery. The goal of the project was to design and rapidly manufacture a guitar pick that would fit over a standard beer can tab, open the beer can, be easily removed from the tab and feel comfortable during guitar play.

AToMiC Awards
The 2022 AToMiC Awards, celebrating groundbreaking ideas in Canadian marketing and media, recognized SingleCut Beersmiths’ “Notes IPA” for its innovation. This craft beer, a nod to rock ‘n’ roll, was designed with a unique feature—a custom guitar pick attached to the pull-tab—thanks to Spark’s collaboration with the agency. This guitar pick, integral to the product design, allowed drinkers to embrace the spirit of rock by opening the can and using it to play. Notes IPA sold out twice as fast as other releases, resonating widely within the music and beverage communities.

Prototype Testing
During the prototype testing phase, we used several methods for rapid prototyping, including cardboard cut outs, plastic sheet cutouts, and 3D printing. The testing of the guitar pick consisted of verifying the easy installation of guitar pick, and intuitive removal. Finally some of the guitar picks were played by musicians and evaluated for comfort.
