Digital Stethoscope
The digital stethoscope project required a rethink of the form and function of the traditional acoustic stethoscope while incorporating electronic function and accommodating acoustic requirements. The Digital stethoscopes incorporated highly sensitive acoustic components and algorithms to enhance the capabilities of traditional stethoscopes and capture patterns that may not be audible to a physician.

Ergonomics
The weight size and shape of the product needed to be balanced between the technical requirements and the ergonomics of holding this very familiar tool. The device needed to function accurately but not be too dissimilar from traditional stethoscope aesthetics. The angled body was chosen to allow space for the physician’s fingers and to separate the acoustics away from the patient’s body.
Mounting Chassis
The product required a substantial acoustic isolation chamber internally separating a traditional stethoscope neck from the rest of the electronics and the environment. Working with the client, the Spark team provided many CAD model updates for various trial tests, to resolve the acoustic challenges of this project.
