A Successful Product Design: Started From A Spark And Ends Flowing Air

Spark Innovations was hired by Alea Labs Inc. to develop their new “Smart Vent” product.  Spark’s mechanical engineers and industrial designers took this product from a very early crude prototype, through a few rounds of partial validation units, and onto fully functional production-intent mock-up assemblies. Spark then continued on to support with the early production trials and DFM (Design For Manufacturing) processes. This was a challenging project as it involved 7 different sized units, comprised of mechanisms, electronics, aesthetic challenges with regards to the look and functionality. Through several iterations, testing, tweaking, design changes, both Spark and Alea Labs came through with success. These vent units are now in the first stages of being sold to the mass market and used in actual construction projects!
